my alarm went off at 5:20 am today. i only hit the snooze two times. we had to get to the fishing boat by 7. turns out deep sea fishing is thousands of dollars in this area and yeah right, fishing should never be that ridiculous. we took a boat out in the oregon inlet and the captain was a complete raging alcoholic scary asshole. his mates were great and you couldn't resist speaking in a sweet and unnoticeable southern accent when chatting with them.

so i was fishing next to a kid and his grampy. only take all the norman rockwell images out of your head and replace it with a hell child who kept asking me why i can't catch any fish and desperately needed a couple doses of adderall. his grandfather had christopher walken's EXACT accent and kept talking to me about how he's known the kennedy family for his whole life and other uppity uppity bullshit. fortunately for me, i closed my eyes and imaged i was listening to the dead zone. christopher walken, total hearts.
here's one of the mates.

this is the flounder we caught.
oh yea. this is the only place where people can wear tshirts that read 'tommy hillbilly' all over it and three confederate flag tattoos. i'm not kidding i was scared for my life.

this is the sea bass i think. i caught a tiny tiny little sea mullet but had to throw him back in cause his mama was all, i don't THINK SO!
someone asked me if i ever get seasick and i told him NEEEEEEVER!!!! then obviously the boat started rocking like crazy and i got seasick. bla bla and other sea stuff.

SANDDDDDDY BEACH HAIR!
we were lazy at the beach again today and i watched a loon swim into the ocean. loons look like ducks except they can't walk. they also mate for life. also i watched an EXTREME surf dude fly an EXTREME KITE and literally rubbed his type A personality all over our personal space. EXTREME KITE FLYING?! ben franklin would be shamed.

then we went to jockey's ridge. it's the largest sand dunes this side of the mississippi. that's a phrase you hear alot here. THIS SIDE OF THE MISSISSIPPI!
you first have to trek for a quarter mile in soft soft soft sand like basically walking in quicksand with noodle bones and then you have to walk up an 85 degree incline of sand for 20 feet and then you have a dehydration attack and then you walk up a less steep incline for an eighth of a mile and then you're at the top.

like every mall of america tourist shithole, girls will sit around and not look like idiots rolling around in the sand. but baby that's the best part. its about ten stories high and very very steep so of course you have to do the run cartwheel roll slide move.

my favorite day so far. we ate at a shi shi fish restaurant for dinner with the sunset on the sound and 25 dollar pasta dishes. it's raining now. it always rains at the end of the week when we have to move out of the beach house. gloom.
