a caturday well spent

I remember wishing I could be reborn as a house cat.

Growing fur during the day. Shedding it at night.

Nestling beds out of someone's leftovers and whatnots.

Chasing intangible beams of light.

And dreaming. Visions of conquered flies, falling leaves and all those little delights I've seen cats cry on and on about as if announcing their triumphs in finding such things.

To be continued.

Fadah's day

Turner to Cezanne special exhibit at The Albuquerque Museum of Art and History on Father's Day. I called mi papa and wished him a bon jeaux jour au oui-oui (a made up french phrase that means Happy Whatever. It sounded better in my head.) Marc is also a father (to 4 kitties. Hopefully! Cross your fingers and knock on wood until I get my period in two and a half weeks) so I wished him a bon jeaux jour au oui-oui as well.

Le cool dad.

I love (love love love!) how coffee makes words fall out of my mouth twelve times faster than regular life. Ahhh, coffee.

26 is feeling pretty damn good.

The ashy blond woman next to us proclaimed to her friend that Jesus touches her. Like, really touches her. We stared at the twirling rainbow 'brella like acid flashback man (does that makes sense???)

Huh. There seems to have been a boat load more posing and sipping cafe americano than museum going. Impressionism is not really mah thang... let me give it another go around after some extensive wikipediaing.

And then afterward we found our neighbors' doggie, Denny, running down the sidewalk so we rescued her and Marc taught her fetch and I snuggled her head and I guess now we own a dog (until Leo gets back into town.) Once, twice, three times a father...

don't talk to me before my second cup of coffee

I'm sleepy plus angry (slangry?). Why is the world run by morning glories who want me awake before 10 AM??

ANYWAY.

It's GAY PRIDE WEEK :) and the fab gay pride parade in Albuquerque starts in an hour and a half so I'm about to finish up my coffee and figure out what I'll wear this year. Maybe my neon tights with rainbow dress? My blond mustache with my orange wig? My gold bikini with cutoff shorts? This is gonna be great!

Gay Pride Week to me is like graduation from a whole year of feeling good about everyone's differences. It's so tear jerking and emotional to be around everyone celebrating love. It's more love centric than St. Valentine's Day! Plus, on Valentine's Day you don't usually see a row of men clapping their butt cheeks or grannies riding a twenty foot dildo :)

Cheers!!!!

REAL LIFE: excuses, excuses!

Effing procrastination, F*CK!

Thank you, evolutionary biology (sarcasm) for adapting our brains to desire interruptions in our stream of work and thought, yet giving us guilt for desiring it, all the same. I started this damn post about twelve hundred times before doing errands, writing fb comments, playing mousey with the cats, making a cocktail, taking a bubble bath, looking up how old the RZA is, memorizing an Oasis song for karaoke, making another cocktail and watching ... Fraiser (Ew. Seemingly, I was desperate for entertainment.)

Would you like to hear my official excuses?! Of course not, but you know I'mma write it anyway:

Hello, pink valentine's day flowers! You are already dead and crispy. How ephemeral.

MY RETAHDED EXCUSES:
My computer's fried.
The cats need food and entertainment.
I have Tuesday afternoon tutoring.
I need to snap pics for the blogette.
I'm tired.
I'm depressed.
I'm lonely.
BLA BLA BLA!

What are your usual procrastination excuses?

baby burrito!!!!

Say hi to Baby P.

On the last snow day, I moved a couple of winter blankets from mi casa to marc's casa. Baby found the white down blanket to be very intriguing. His little blue eye and green eye watched me plop the blanket on the mini couch and then he cautiously watched it to make sure it wasn't a live snow creature.

After a couple minutes, he decided the snow creature was dead enough to burrow through.

Baby: "This is my most favorite dead snow creature."

Me: "Baby, this is not a snow creature, it is simply a white down blanket."

Baby: "I smell feathers, therefore it is an animal."

Sigh!

It is his favorite object in the house because it makes a great camouflage for his fur coat.

THIS EXISTS

Going out to the craft store. Should I pick you up anything?

you're making me corny

You know how it is. 18 hours of homework to catch up on AND the sink is full of cheese encrusted bowls AND you've got to back up your hard drive cuz it's only got .5 GB left AND the dirty clothes mountain is hollowed out from the cats making caves into it.

Still, we jumped out of the house and went to the maize maze at Rio Grande Community Farm.

This pic reminds me of this time my bff, Robin, and I made a secret little house among the tall Pennsylvania timothy grass. And we brought our baby dolls into the house and put them to sleep under woven grass blankets. To get out, you'd have to crawl under a long canopy of feathery plant stems. No one would ever find us.

Marc and I totally do mazes differently. He likes to intently follow the map and know his exact location (he was probably secretly carrying a GPS in his pocket) and I like to get entirely lost and make a hundred wrong turns and go in circles for hours.

Hey, remember that time we got lost in Moriarty's corn maze for an hour and everyone was crying so dad was like 'everyone! single file! i learned how to solve corn mazes in boyscouts. haul out.'? Then we got out in fifteen minutes? Awww, dads crack me up.

The maze was pretty small. Isn't that a-maze-ing? yuk yuk yuk (seriously kill me when i start making these jokes irl.)

Hello, Sandia!

Fall in the southwest really should get more coverage. It's dry and sunny and cold. There's red chile hot chocolate and warm potato green chile soup. The leaves turn gold and yellow. The whole day is a sleepy, sun-soaked afternoon.

cold in the shade, warm in the sun

Yesterday while Marc was making soup - Ashley's potato and mushroom soup recipe - I walked outside, looked up into the great wonder of the New Mexico sky and thought to myself, "G, is this life? The air is cool, the days are shorter, we're growing older."

Not.

What? Am I some emo nerd now? Did I trade my fuck off attitude for a cup of tea and Chicken soup for the soul subscription? Did you fully forget who I am? I walked outside and pissed on the dead leaves though. Damn damn, it's already fall.

Moshe's been put on a new diet. Venison and peas. Now he eats better than both Marc and me. But, totally worth it. If you've ever been over to the house when Moshe had gas or shit, you know it reeked like twelve days of death. We fixed L'il Simey's digestive problems!!!!!!!!! Now to fix regular Simey's digestive problems ...

Look at that heavy, blue October sky!

So, this is horrible, but I got a little baby powder on Baby's head the other night and he had an allergic rxn to it. I seriously flogged myself to almost death for it. I AM SO SORRY BABY! OMG, KILL ME. Note to self: rename the bottle "human baby powder". But he's doing a little better now, except he got in an alley cat fight.

I'm trying to get a face pic of Baby a la Rhianna (too soon?)

LOOK AT ALL THOSE SCRATCHES! poor baby pout pout pout. I can't control my wild cat ... Marc, is this how you felt that night I drank that bottle of vodka with Suicidal Tendencies punk, threw the glass on the street and strutted off like hot shit with him? hahahaha! I'm an asshole. sorry.

Hey, we should do an October BBQ in the backyard.

What can I say, I fucking love my Moshe.

Oh yeah, Tiva almost died the other night, it's a pretty long story ... what? This is normal. Just a non-delusional post about the lives of four cats. That should really win everyone over, ri?

I know. enough with the cats.

Tho you're missing out on a great little novella about the time I cleaned Chompers ears with a Q tip. I think I'm joking. hey! cat lady >= emo nerd.

Peeping tom.

Ohyeah almostforgot, G la fille is back! I got the writing bug bite again.

Seriously. The dying leaves would even make a non emo nerd look up and wonder.

Don't forget to step on all the crunchy leaves. It's so evolutionarily satisfying.
