Last October, before Halloween, before the first snowfall and before Moshe got catnapped by the family who renamed him Crookshanks and moved to the Sandia mountains, we sat and watched a marching band competition at UNM stadium. Mi hermano played saxophone with Moriarty HS Marching Band.
This is not them. Brother's HS Band is muy pequeño.
The stadium's benches are finely polished silvery metal, which is nice and pretty during evening football games, but at 12 o'clock noon, the reflected sunlight blinded us worse than staring into the sun. I think my cornea literally got sunburned. I think it bleached my hair blond. I think my skin was so beyond burnt that the sunlight started infiltrating my internal organs. And that's how my pancreas got a tan. The end.
I think I literally could have painted my eyeballs black and dug myself into a hole in the ground and I still would have had sun poisoning... this should be New Mexico's motto, hahahahaha.
El Sabor for lunch!
Back to the stadium! The announcer's tower blocked the sun after 1pm :)
The whole event was terribly interesting in that high school-y, sitting around with your buds, sharing a soft pretzel, talking through everything kind of way. Marc and I people watched and guessed what everyone's fetishes were until we grossed ourselves out to the max.
Cool.
Hello, old friend!
La Cueva's monster marching band.
Everyone stood up for UNM's Marching Band.
They did a tribute to Michael Jackson and I can't tell you how difficult it was to not laugh out loud when 150 college nerds moon walked in band outfits. I'm not laughing because I think I'm better, I'm laughing because C'MON! MOON WALKING IN BAND UNIFORMS...
The band sounded incredible and had perfect lines. Highly impressed!
I left feeling happy I could cross another experience off of my Things To See And Do list.
