three for one

amelia bedelia had her packed house farewell party on friday night. everyone was in their various stages of inebriation by the time i got there. marc was drinking scotch out of a pedro's chile bottle, t most likely was in possession of an f and the rest drank the keg dry. cheebsy weebsy was there but no pics. sorry. apparently a girl from s america changed his life. whatev, newly medicated or fresh in love, he was acting much differently.
police were called and nobody was under 21. except possibly the girls who came with t (the other t), but they at least had the decency to jump the fence. morons and aces crowded around the table playing quarters. the more uppity joes stood in the kitchen correcting each other on the benefits of libertarianism. every girl cept bethany was an absolute nightmare wrapped in boredom scented tube socks. then again it was probs just me.

the best part came when pipe wiped away tears as the killers' song mr. brightside played and i knew it wouldn't get any more entertaining than that. SO I LEFT. basically i can tell when i've had a horrible time when even i can't re-read my own writing. blah. in related news, si and the others stayed there until 5 in the morn when cops were called again. amelia left for kenya in the morning SO THEY SAY.
sometime later si and i watched the mort nathan classic, national lampoon's BAG BOY. i'm still absolutely furious about watching it that i can't really comment right now. later on we drowned our sorrows in n.y.pizza.d. and marble brewery beer. NO! actually simey didn't drink with us. it made me feel guilty.
om effing g! i've almost got victoria's secret supermodel cleavage!! and all it cost me was gaining an extra 30 pounds of neck fat. gloom. i'm going to go sit in a dark closet.
the last day of summer was on sunday so marc and i made the reasonable decision to cry about it while driving around los ranchos. i've been a spoiled brat about the ending summer. i guess it's time to face the seasonal change. sad. sad. sad.
m bought outdated hipster glasses to cheer me up and make me laugh everytime i look at him.
and it's working.
i saw this sign and was reminded of ash. lonely flea market fiesta.
additionally. all these photos were taken with my broken camera.
we took small roads around the neighborhoods and rolled our eyes at the mansions. terrible antique summer pop songs played on the radio and i propped my elbow on the window. definitely not dry hot summer weather. not cool still fall weather either.
the alps were playing at the dynatheater at the museum so marc and i saddled up our picnic stuff and drove over. i figure that if i spend my last summer day watching a movie about snowy winter weather conditions then it gives me a free bikini and watermelon day in the middle of january. yessssss.
the great part about buying tickets to dynatheater movies is that you can sneak around the museum for free and no one kicks you out. just REMEMBER to NOT BUY the last showing of the day bc then they won't let you walk around the exhibits.

have i completed all my summer to do's?! it's easy to check. i've acquired tan lines, 3 ugly summer trend shirts, twisted ankle, worn out flip flops, hippie hair, and 13 magazines of varying degrees of idiocy.

no. REALLY.

I'm going to try and get all my stale unpublished posts out by today. it's been driving me nuts.

in the meantime, yesterday i ate:
stringy pasta with squash and dill and olive oil
cup of cherry ice cream
tortilla chips and sadie's salsa
microwaveable ravioli in tomato sauce
package of gummi care bears
slice of cheddar cheese
vegetable broth soup with purple beans, patty pans, yellow squash, zucchini and potato

beck and mgmt at kiva

we met emily and her tall goofy boyfriend best described as a working class british punk living in santa fe. they gave us the tickets. we gave them our money and we chatted in the mcdonald's parking lot off of yale and central. the tickets read that doors open at 7:30.

i couldn't find my good eyeliner and was having a fit over which dress to wear. marc smoked outside my apartment waiting for me. we drove down central with the windows wide open enjoying the lingering summer heat and i had to keep pulling down on my short purple minidress. i was also wearing the turquoise-cubes necklace my parents' gave me for graduation last december and the slouchy brown boots. marc wore his usual. white tee, dark jeans and scuffed skateboard shoes. and his lovely somewhat crooked teeth.

we got there slightly after mgmt had started and the whole room was dark and loud and moving. we were ushered to our seats which were not great but not terrible. we were on the far right of the auditorium but closer to the middle aisle than most others in our section. mgmt was on stage and was an absolute hipster mess. you've heard their songs kids, time to pretend and electric feel. i'm sure you have. go look em up.

i'm not lying when i tell you we were sitting right next to the five most fucking psychotic dancers. not the feel good, let it loose, free love dancers. these girls were insanely jabbing their elbows around our heads, spinning their arms in circles and kicking their legs in the air. one of them pressed her fingers into the chair in front of us so she could jump off her seat into a wild attempt of doing running man into the air.

i was already in the usual prissy no nonsense mood i do when forced to be in a crowd of dorm rats but the dancing adderall-addicted psychopaths were pushing me further and further into a dark and serious bout of intolerable grief. it's one thing to enjoy the music at a concert and get involved, dancing without awareness. i love that! i love just being inside my brain dancing around but it's a whole other thing to rub your crotch on the chair in front of your drool soaked charlotte russe dress. if i ever run into those psycho dancing girls i swear to god i will grab their shoulders and head butt my unbrushed head into their overly polished skull.

but yeah. mgmt was pretty awesome in that hipster je ne sais quoi kind of way.

intermission! jay and lisa were there. t and lukey were there. m and i played nasty people-watching games and made fun of nerds buying the $9 cups of bud lite and $12 glasses of piss wine. we made fun but only for want of alcohol. note to self: invest in a flask. 15 minutes went by and the lights dimmed.

beck was dressed in layers and layers of black and white clothes. long stringy blond hair and rosy red cheeks. he adjusted his guitar and walked on stage. his guitarist wore a cheap looking native american headdress. grrrrrr. and his keyboardist dj stood on a raised platform in the back. there was also a drummer and bass player.

he played chemtrails, my favorite favorite song off the new album, modern guilt. i was hoping he would also play replica off the same album but i don't think he did. it's hard to recall. he would play several songs off his older albums in between playing stuff from his new record. in the middle of the show, his band mates and he took off their instruments and plugged themselves into microphone headsets and handheld scratchers and other tiny electric musical devices. i think it was choreograped musical mayhem.

the ushers were unbelievable assholes. there were two standing at the front and end of each aisle and then another two or three rushing back and forth looking down each row. they would shine a flashlight in your face if you looked like you were using a camera or a camera phone. even the kids just texting on their phone got screamed at and shook. i'm not joking. marc and i got yelled at and had the flashlight jammed in our faces. like, take a chill pill, man, you've been fooled into thinking this job means THAT much to you.
i think i wanted to be cynical about the psycho dancing girls and how beck was so far away that it might as well have been an imposter. but i got warm and melted when beck started talking about how the desert just outside of town reminded him of a song off the sea change album. the golden age.

he must have seen the pink purple clouds in the orange sky that day. the sunsets here always make me feel alone and heartbroken and happy too. albuquerque, we have confusing sunsets don't we?

his encore consisted of four or five wildly popular songs. marc danced like a robot and i danced like an awkward teen. it just seemed to fit the environment and everyone around us sang the lyrics and clapped.

all the pictures were found on last.fm.

yah yah! new toy

my NEW CAMERA COMES TODAY! so rad. marc helped me pick it out. we went to the flea hole known as best buy last weekend and tried out every single digital camera between $100 and $230. and then we went on newegg to buy it. it was 70 dollars (!!) cheaper to do it that way. this will be my new camera.
basically, my old camera, which was actually marc's camera, was giving me major problems. a stringy piece of garbage got behind the aperature somehow and has been ruining all the pics i've taken for the past 3 weeks. also, i got a ton of sand in the camera when i was at the beach in kitty hawk this summer so the telescopic part wouldn't open practically everytime i would turn it on. plus the numerous puddles of beer it was placed in and times it was dropped and many many scratches it got from being lost in the bottom of my bag. AND WORST OF ALL is when s dropped it into a pile of horse poop downtown.
R.I.P. you wonderful piece of plastic. i'll always remember you for what you were.

beck tonight cross your fingers

so i managed to find a girl selling 2 beck tickets on craigslist. they were much cheaper than what ticketmaster was selling them for so i called her last night. and now the concert's tonight (in 2 hours!!) and i'm crossing all my fingers and toes that she doesn't back out or give me fake tickeys or actually raise the price at the last minute. i'm not paying anything over 30 for those buggers.
j will also be there. in a cloud of smoke.

TSU SHI MA MI RE. tsushimamire. tsmmr!!!

we walked our restless tail bones to burt's tiki lounge last summer monday. tsu shi ma mi re would be there and si WROTE an article bout themz. my antenna of course went up as soon as these girls arrived in albuquerque. post-cutesy screeching punk pop girl band from japan? yes please.cool sposure huh?
that's not simon. well, i don't think it is.
the hardly surprising mosh pit and a truly unfortunate tattoo.
wtf? there were actual beings in front of me pulling off our musician's hair? i believe this is an example of herd mentality.

this is where i take a dozen vain photos with the band.
signing his stomach hair?
peasch shign. schweet. also, damn damn! the one time i could have rightfully used a peace sign. i'll never forgive mysssschelf.
i got the yellow pink blusey piece. it was a medium and they told me it would accompany my constantly expanding cup size and waist line. no joke. i've been a size 7 since 15 and then this past year made me move up to size 10 pants. am i pregnant? claire ash, u know our agreement in case i am. i'll get the jack daniels and boxing gloves ready. in other news, my only-eating-after-10pm-no-exercise-not-even-yoga diet isn't working out.
oh right. i gotta gotta get that signature.
i'm full of narcissism mama and these peeeek-tures show it.
ok ok i forgive myself.
haven't yet decided if i'll leave it as a regular old tee shirt or ask jessica to lend me her book on how to cut it into a million pieces and reconstruct a strippy strappy cutie halter. one time on the martha stewart show martha had a segment on how to 'make a tee shirt more feminine'. and i'm talking about her OLD SHOW where she coined the phrase "IT'S A GOOD THING". so she had a ridiculous little tee and all she did was cut off that hem that goes around the neck hole. and then she PUT IT ON and didn't look like anything less than a washed up woodstock hippie living in the suburbs.
pot smoke waved into our bathroom window from the apartment across marc's backyard and our breath was drenched in beer taste. we checked hbo for 5 minutes and passed out above the blankets.

the show was awesome fantastical. small fanfare like jumping around to punk bass and spilled drinks all over the crowd. and large fanfare like mosh pits and the screaming mob. we got caught up in the energy like everyone else. hyper albuquerque crowd, where have you been my whole life??
