detox weekend part two

detox weekend.

the end of august turned out to be slightly more poisonous than i anticipated. so i planned a few simple excursions. excursions that involved sweating, working, healthy food, water and tea and mostly just getting 8 restful non-toxic hours of sleep every night.

on saturday we worked at the farm, picked veggies, washed and bagged them. we fed the animals and picked weeds. it was a good start to the long labor day weekend.

but on sunday the sky was heavy with rainclouds and we had to sell our produce at the big corrales farmers' market. i picked extra turnips the day before so i could try and sell them behind my dad's back.
he doesn't believe turnips are big sellers but i do. i believe in the power of thoroughly washed turnips.beautiful carrots, no?
i sold $3 worth of turnips to the most legit hipster in the universe. he was understated, solemn and absolutely beautiful so please somebody find out if he's a visiting actor or director. i want to be a STARRRRRRRRR! and die of prescription drug overdose after fifty glamorous years in the spotlight!

or maybe not.

additionally, we found a batch of very unusually shaped green squash. look in the top photo, they're at the very bottom of the pic and shaped like small pumpkins. i thought it was quite smart to call them 'zucchini bombs' but marc pointed out that the extreme left wingies who shop at farmers' markets don't like their veggies described with such violent words.

word.
