it would later become obvious to me the happy accident of wearing that vest on monday night. downtown and we were going to the shearwater show at the launchpad. luke invited his lucky friends.
this is wye oak. she sings and plays guitar while he sits and plays drums and keyboard which is blatantly obvious from the pic.
and you know, i liked their presence. it was like driving through the midwest part of america. and the kids were so not hyped about anything but it really fit their musical situation. and their songs were just the quietest nudge to make me want to play a stringed thing.
a delicate band.
certainly, this lemondrop would console any party experiencing a terrible terrible date ....or not.

ok. here's shearwater. just unbelievably professional musicians. they performed with little to no verbal communication and i believe every single person exchanged their instrument for a completely different medium of musical device at least twice during the show. not even an atomic bomb could disturb their intense concentration.
and the drummer / interesting spittoon-like instrument player was wearing a girl's blouse and hip huggers. who could blame him though, he has a great figure.
everyone from shearwater changed into vests for the performance.
we listened to their lullabies and from my bird's nest i noticed the impact of the hypnotized audience. they created far and away beautiful music. and this is coming from someone who rips their hair out at being forced to listen to black heart procession, nick cave, godspeed you black emperor, afghan whigs, etc.
so i saw these guys when they weren't performing before their set. they were in thrift store fancy and dull jackets. sometimes it's just poetry when a band creates characters for their songs. it pulled me in whether i liked it or not.i highly recommend you listen to wye oak and shearwater. especially especially with fall wrapping around the calendar.
