maps and routes

from this perspective, any six destinations in chicago look like this. simply on top of one another:

see, i found 6 museums in chicago that are having free day today. and even if i don't particularly like planetariums, damn it, i WILL get my ass over there just for free admission.

and all the museums open around 10 and close around 4. except the art institute which is only free from 5pm to 8pm. 6 museums in 7 hours sounded absurd so google mapping the route to determine it's probability seemed a good idea.

my first stop is the chicago academy of sciences. it's the furthest north so i'd just take the red line to fullerton and walk down lincoln. the rest, it seems, are right down the road from one another.

so this is good. even at this distance they look to be just a few blocks apart.

or, several blocks. but i was expecting to walk a little anyhow.

hmmm. A is at lincoln park and D is past grant park.

7 MILES, GOOGLE MAPS?!?! 7 miles?! 7 miles in a city takes approximately 3 hours to walk and that's only if you get all the good stoplights. so now it looks like i'm taking buses to each museum but that only multiplies the probability of getting unbelievably lost again. plus! where does my 1pm round of beers fit into this picture? wish me luck.

i'm going to walk as much as i can no matter. it'll increase the chances that i'll appear in google maps satellite images.
