glen hansard and markéta irglová performed cactus by the pixies and all i could think about was lane.
also, none of the videos are mine, but the pictures are.

we took our seats after iron and wine started. samuel beam invited swell season on stage to perform neil young's albuquerque. it was their valentine to us. thank you.
glen hansard told us his stories behind each song, except the covers. and he made the auditorium feel intimate and warm. and i think when seeing a band perform music from a movie, you want to find something new when watching them, whether it's something wrong with their songs or some other meaning behind it. but we weren't really examining them like that. or at least i wasn't. i felt like i could just sit and enjoy.
markéta asked us for the most darling favor. she told us they were awed by popejoy hall but weren't opera singers so she wanted us to talk and sing and dance during the show if we felt like it.
so like i wrote before, si had an extra ticket for me and i'm so so grateful he called me about it even though i'm pretty sure this is after he called alex, tim and tres. we got in slightly late but were about 12 rows from the stage. it felt completely non-choreographed and quiet and somehow like we were watching them interact as if we were in their house. and by the end i think all of us were crybabies.
